Blanchard Grinding is perfect for large parts such as mold plates, rotary tables and vacuum chambers. This method allows size flexibility, prevents discrepancies and speeds turnaround time on a large parts when compared to fly-cutting. D.S. Greene’s Blanchard Grinding provides considerable time savings over surface grinding and using our proprietary D.S. Greene vacuum chucks, even thin, hard to hold configurations can be Blanchard Ground. We are able to provide parts with surface finishes to 16 Ra.
Pre-machining expense and the extra time involved can be reduced by Blanchard Grinding multiple parts at the same time. To decrease the unit cost, D.S. Greene can grind multiple parts, along with cutting large Blanchard Ground blanks into smaller parts, providing constant part-to-part thickness tolerances and surface finishes.
D.S. Greene has 6-Blanchard Grinders in operation, grinding sheet and plates as large as 42" high and 100" across corners and heavy materials up to 5 tons.
